OUR STORY

Rooted in nature and shaped by intention, Meadowsweet Retreat is a place to return — to self, to slowness, and to the Earth.

Two women sitting in a field of flowers, one with curly blond hair wearing a green dress, smiling at the other woman with long brown hair, who is passing a sprig of flowers.

We are Anya, Amanda, and Phoebe — a mother and two daughters weaving together generations of wisdom, healing, and Earth-rooted living. Meadowsweet Retreat began in the wild mountains of Tuscany, born from a shared vision: to create sacred, grounded spaces where people can return to the land, to themselves, and to what truly nourishes.

For Anya, this work comes naturally — shaped by a childhood spent in the hedgerows and woodlands of Dorset, England, learning the language of plants alongside her mother Amanda, an intuitive herbalist and forager with over 40 years of experience in native plant medicine. As an adult she had a successful career in fine dining hospitality which shines through the attention to detail, the food and the magic moments of Meadowsweet.

Amanda, known lovingly as a true “wild woman,” has spent her life walking the medicine path, listening to the land, harvesting its gifts with care, and passing on her knowledge not only to Anya and Phoebe, but now to her granddaughter too. Her way is one of embodied wisdom and deep reverence, a quiet legacy that pulses through every retreat we offer.

Phoebe brings a powerful presence of her own — a ceremonialist, vocal coach, and healing therapist whose personal journey has taken her across Latin America, Africa, and Europe. Her work, shaped by a decade of soul-deep exploration, brings together voice, energy work, ritual, and intuitive guidance to support transformation from the inside out.

What began as one retreat in Tuscany has since become a growing constellation of spaces across the world, in collaboration with like-hearted sanctuaries, all rooted in the same values: simplicity, presence, and devotion to the Earth.

Together, as a family, we’ve cultivated more than land — we’ve cultivated a way of life. Through permaculture, wildcrafting, homesteading, ceremony, and seasonal living, we offer immersive experiences that support deep healing, creativity, and reconnection.

Each retreat is an invitation — to slow down, come home to yourself, and remember that you belong to something much older, wilder, and wiser than you may have been taught to believe.

Wherever you meet us, in Tuscany or beyond, you are so welcome here. We’re honoured to share the magic of this work with you.

WHAT SETS US APART

  • 01 / Generations of Wisdom

Meadowsweet is guided by a powerful family legacy: Amanda’s 40+ years of plant medicine and foraging, Anya’s land-based ceremony, and Phoebe’s deeply embodied healing work. Together, we bring wisdom that’s lived, grounded, and genuinely passed down.

  • 02/ Earth-Based Rituals

Our retreats invite you into a slower, more connected way of being — through foraging, permaculture, seasonal ceremony, and soul nourishment. Every experience is crafted to support reconnection with nature, self, and the sacred.

  • 03/ Purposeful Healing

Our retreats offer more than rest — they invite personal renewal. Through singing, movement, ritual, art, hands-on work, and shared circle, guests reconnect with themselves and others in meaningful, lasting ways. It’s deep, spirit-guided work — held with grounded care and real-life tools.

  • 04 / Beauty in Every Detail

From seasonal, soul-nourishing meals to flower-filled tables and carefully chosen spaces in nature, every detail at Meadowsweet is curated with love. We believe healing is supported by beauty, and we treat every moment — and every guest — with the thoughtfulness of ceremony.
